When we went looking for the finest axe handles in the world, we didn't have to look any further than Liam Hoffman. In fact, when Liam agreed to work with us, we didn't bother contacting anyone else. Liam Hoffman, owner of Hoffman Blacksmithing, is by many accounts one of the greatest axe makers in the world. Liam is the author of the book FORGED a Guide to Becoming a Blacksmith and In June of 2016 he became the youngest blacksmith to ever win the History Channel's Forged in Fire.

Knife industry veteran Hal Van Hercke is the owner of CastleGate Knife & Tool, a knife retailer, in Sedalia, Colorado. Unhappy with the quality of his existing axe suppliers, Hal Van Hercke went on a mission. "I knew we needed something better, after spending several weeks talking to every axe manufacturer in North America and Europe I realized there was a huge gap in the market for a truly exceptional production axe made right here in the USA."
